This work is influenced by my interest in the history and artefacts alongside the village I have grown up in. The village of Yarnfield hosted a large American and British army base during the Second World War, During this project I experimented with Cyanotype, taking those very first illustrations and a range of old photographs to investigate if and how that style would suit my project. Looking over the finished Cyanotypes I noticed how much texture they had picked up, especially in the photographs. This led me on to sorting and laying out a range of different textures found in both my drawings and the Cyanotypes that I would be able to take from throughout my project.
Continuing to work on Illustrations I created my small booklet containing a range of my more recent drawings combined with the cyanotype photographs and cropped areas of texture you would find in the village, this is in a diary style as if it was a small sketchbook kept and dated in the 1940s.
